Ursula Schneider, née Abel

Cultural scientist and expert for monument protection. Engaged in the maintenance and conversion of Hamburg building ensembles.

Father: (Friedrich) Richard Abel.
Mother: Anneliese Elisabethe Abel, née Döring.

Wife of Lambert Schneider (archaeologist) and
mother of Lambert Richard Schneider
(researcher on international climate policy).

 

 

 

1961-1969 Study of classical archaeology in Munich and Freiburg.
1969 Master’s degree in Munich with a thesis on Musical Contests on Greek Vase Painting.
1970-1981 Married to Lambert Schneider (archaeologist).
1970-1974 Continued studies of art and exhibition didactics in Hamburg.
Since 1980 Founding member of the Association of Friends of the Museum of Labor, Hamburg. Later curator at this museum.

The Association of Friends of the Museum of Work has been awarding the “Ursula Schneider Prize” since 2020 for student theses that deal with the past, present and future of the world of labor.

Since 1993 Delegate in the Hamburg-Mitte district for The Green Party.
